Not exactly something I'd seen a lot of back in Havenport, I'll admit. But it has been nice to get my hands dirty again, even under the circumstances.

I hope you managed to lay your own hands on something a bit more substantial than that splinter of scrap?

Nothing wrong with a knife under the right circumstances. I'm quite fond of them myself.

But a gun has it's own uses.

[ He's been spending most of his time trying to type and spell properly in this past conversation--some weird thing about wanting to impress Roderick. He doesn't understand it himself. Just like the first couple of texts, this one is rushed and full of inconsistencies: ]

[and isn't that just... sweet. even if roderick reasons that even in this case the word 'trust' should probably be taken with a grain of salt.]

[ He's nervous. Nervous and for some reason, excited. Roderick is the only person, Murphy thinks, that gets him. That understands. Maybe he's falling into Roderick's charms. Maybe he just needs to talk about Raven. Raven, and Bellamy, and how he can't fucking trust people.

...And yet, he's fallen in line with Roderick.

He opens the door without knocking, knife safe in his pocket and his hand around it. Not because Murphy is afraid of Roderick, but because it's almost grounding, for him. ]

You've killed people, right?

[ It's the first question out of his mouth once the door closes. ]

[roderick never bothered to lock his door. anything he had worth stealing he took with him when he left and when he was home? well. people made their own choices about what sort of danger to put themselves in, he figured.

he sits back when murphy enters, the lack of hesitation there its own sort of triumph.] More than a few. [roderick agrees with an easy nod. no point in hiding that at this point, after all.]

Everyone has their own reason for why they kill and what they get from it.

[ Though that sentence--it makes him pause, only because he's thinking, and plops right down next to Roderick with a certain lack of grace that comes with being tall, lanky, and a teenager.

He's comfortable enough to put his feet up on the coffee table, though that might be a direct lack of manners, as well. ]

What's yours, anyway? Reason.

[roderick considers the question for a minute, considers the feet on his coffee table before settling on murphy's face thoughtfully.

if he's honest, he's got more than one reason for why he does it, even putting aside the deaths he orchestrated strictly for joe's plans alone. one of those was a bit personal to share with a kid that was still untrained, unstable, and not quite his yet.

that one, murphy would have to earn.] There's a moment, as a person is fading. In those last few breaths they take. When you've literally got their life in your hands and you can all but feel as it slips through your fingers. [he closes his eyes for a moment as he remembers. it's been far too long since he killed just for himself. he wants that feeling back again.]

You'll never be closer to a person than you are, right in that moment.
